Religion and ethics

NSW public schools offer special religious education and special education in ethics, delivered by approved providers wherever available.

Special Religious Education (SRE)  

At Kanahooka High School, SRE is delivered one period per fortnight throughout Terms 1 – 4 for Year 7 students. Parents need to indicate if they wish their child to participate in SRE. This can be done online or through paper form which will be given to each Year 7 student at the beginning of the year.  

The online enrolment process asks parents/carers their child’s participation preference in SRE see - online form

After the initial enrolment, notification of changes to a child's enrolment in SRE should be given to the school office, in writing. 

During the time that SRE classes are being held, Year 7 students not attending will attend their normally allocated class. The regular classroom teacher will supervise students not attending SRE in meaningful activities related to their subject area.
